Harlow Judo

   

Technical Grading.

With the implementation of the new grade promotion syllabus by the British Judo Association Harlow Judo club now have three mats on their main Monday night training session, one red, one yellow and one blue mat area with all players segregated by technical ability onto the three mats.  Each mat having a separate coach. Watch this space for further details and improvement in grades.

 

Club Closed championships 26th April 2008

With Harlow expanding into schools this event has evolved over the past three years in to a small friendly event open to all players coached by Harlow judo club coaches.

Special Needs Judo

In conjunction with Sport Essex Harlow have agreed to start a special needs Judo class.  First indications are very encouraging and an eye opener for the coaches involved.

Schools Mobile Judo Service.

 

UKCC Level II

Another first for Harlow Judo club, they were host to the first level II UKCC coaching course.  The course consisted of two full intensive weekend training sessions a 6 week planning period with a final assessment by independent examiners for authentication of the qualification.

Essex Closed Championships 1st March 2008

The above event attracted some of the best players from the county with some great results.

The county coach Mr. John Cottis was in attendance casting his expert eye over the competitors with the view of forming an Essex Squad.

Essex County Training December 15th 07

The first county training session for over 20 years was hosted by Harlow Judo club and was a fantastic success.  Clubs from all over Essex attended with the overall responsibility for training firmly on the shoulders of Mr. John Cottis 6th Dan.

Modern Technology arrives at Harlow Judo club

Harlow judo club has moved into the 21st Century with the help of a grant from the Essex council’s children and young peoples service (YOF).  The grant has enables the club to purchase video analysis equipment.  A second bite of the cherry from YOF topped up with a small grant from EDF energy gave the club the opportunity to purchase two electronic portable competition scoreboards.  They will be in use for the very first time at next months Essex Youth Games hosted by Harlow Judo club.

 

Schools mobile service success

Harlow Judo club were successful in a bid for Awards for All grant to purchase additional mats to set up a peripatetic judo service for schools.  This project is on going but has started very well.  More details can be found under the schools sub heading.
